The Sarnia Lambton YMCA Jerry McCaw Family Centre is a vibrant, active community centre. The building includes a large, indoor pool, gymnasium, daycare, as well as changerooms, washrooms, meeting rooms, and supporting administrative spaces.
Originally constructed in 1996, now almost 30 years old several of the building envelopes key components were in need of replacement and upgrading. Prototeck were retained to prepare specifications and tender documents to replace the existing, ballasted EPDM roof over the pool area with a new, two ply modified bituminous roofing system.

Getting into and out of the Centre is facilitate primarily by two, main vestibules; one on the south elevation, another on the west elevation. Prototeck put together a tender package that included replacing old, out of date swing doors, with modern, vertical sliding doors. The project also included removing and replacing the insulating glass units on the east elevation and replacing a number of interior doors that provide access from changerooms, washrooms, etc. to the pool deck
The projects were both tendered to a list of pre-qualified bidders. The roof replacement was completed on time and on budget without issues. The entryway project was tendered and awarded to Maaten Construction. Work is expected to be completed in 2026.
